Nirvana Europe, a North East sports travel and events company celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is eyeing expansion into North America with a £500,000 investment

The firm specializes in organizing travel and accommodation for major global sporting events, including the European and Global Ironman series, various triathlon events, and the Great Run series. Originating in 1999, Nirvana Europe’s foundation was built on its relationship with the Great North Run, a partnership that endures today. With a team of 24 based at its Silverlink Business Park headquarters, the company manages a busy global events calendar.

While Nirvana Europe already has a foothold in event management in North America, it aims to strengthen its presence in the US and Canada. To facilitate this expansion, the company secured a six-figure investment from the North East Growth Capital Fund, administered by regional fund management firm NEL Fund Managers. This investment is expected to create up to six new jobs in the North East and may lead to the establishment of a permanent office in North America.

Looking ahead, Nirvana Europe plans to diversify its portfolio by exploring opportunities in new sports, with swimming and athletics topping the list. Additionally, the company is involved in various other sporting events, including parafencing, wheelchair rugby, the Spartan Race series, and the Hyrox indoor fitness championships.
