New York City, April 22, 2025 —
Renowned international finance and sustainability expert Maria Spartalis co-hosted the 55th Anniversary of Earth Day in Times Square, taking the opportunity to call on leaders across politics, banking, and culture to accelerate investment in a sustainable future.
The free public event, organized by Reverend Paul Sladkus and the Good News Corporation, transformed the Times Square Pedestrian Plaza into a celebration of environmental action. With the theme “Our Power, Our Planet” — a campaign led by EarthDay.org — the evening showcased the urgent need for climate solutions and responsible investment.

Spartalis addressed a live audience with a powerful appeal:
“The climate crisis is no longer a debate. It’s a financial challenge — and an opportunity. Now is the time for banks, investors, and governments to back green innovation with real capital.”
The program featured musical performances by OMMM (“Love Your Mother”), Jarvis Smith, Antonique Smith, and AY Young. Virtual contributions came from global icons such as Ringo Starr, Dr. Jane Goodall, Leonardo DiCaprio, Stevie Wonder, and Shakira, who appeared on behalf of UNICEF. Peace ambassadors Giorgia Fumanti and pianist Katya Grineva added a stirring note of harmony and hope.
Following the event, Spartalis held meetings with leaders from Valley Bank, Swift Rails, Hugg A Planet, American Oriental Arts Foundation, Andronik Kardashev, Necromantic Brew Co., PEP Real Estate/Tribeca Records, and Gitterman Wealth Management — many of whom committed new resources to environmentally-focused startups.

“As New York celebrates 400 years of resilience and reinvention, we must also look ahead — to a world where finance drives sustainability,” Spartalis said.
With a career rooted in economic transformation and climate strategy, Maria Spartalis continues to push for financial systems that serve the health of the planet — and the future of its people.
