Emirates flight EK31, en route from Dubai to London Heathrow, diverted to Frankfurt on October 1 after a passenger onboard suffered a medical emergency mid-flight.

The A380 was cruising at 40,000 feet when the crew transmitted squawk code 7700, the international transponder signal used to alert air traffic control to a general emergency, prompting the diversion.

The aircraft landed safely in Frankfurt, where the affected passenger disembarked to receive further medical attention. No further details about the passenger’s condition have been disclosed.

Emirates confirmed the incident in a statement, saying its cabin crew assisted throughout the flight and that “medical support was arranged on arrival.” The airline added: “We apologise to customers for the delay. The health and safety of our passengers and crew is always our highest priority.”

The aircraft was expected to resume its journey from Frankfurt to Heathrow at approximately 6pm local time, continuing on to London after the unscheduled stop.
