A Portuguese service provider has filed a formal complaint with Portuguese authorities over the non-payment of a luxury transport service provided to His Highness Prince Abdullah, a member of the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Bahrain, during a visit to Portugal last August.
According to available information, the service involved the use of a Mercedes Maybach, with a total cost of €10,400. Four months after the service was rendered, the amount remains unpaid.
The Prince, identified as SH Abdulla Ali Abdulla Alkhalifa, was born on December 6, 1988, in Alawali, Bahrain, and is the holder of a Bahraini diplomatic passport.
According to the service provider, the last direct contact with the Prince took place in October, when he stated that payment would be handled by his office. Since then, no further communication or confirmation of payment has been received.
The driver who provided the service stated that, during their interactions, the Prince indicated that he is a cousin of the Prime Minister of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. This information was conveyed verbally by the Prince, according to the service provider, and has not been independently verified.
In light of the lack of response, a formal complaint was filed with the Portuguese Judicial Police. The matter was also reported to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in London. According to the service provider, a diplomatic representative indicated that the case had been forwarded to Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that a lawyer representing the Royal Family would make contact. To date, no such contact has occurred.
Sources familiar with the matter state that Prince Abdullah is frequently seen in the company of his sister, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Shaikha Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, who serves as Director-General of the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, an institution linked to Bahrain’s diplomatic training framework.
The case file includes documentation related to the service provided, identification records, and communication exchanges between the parties. The matter is currently under review by the competent Portuguese authorities, pending further developments and settlement of the outstanding amount.
