UK tech firms invited to take part in Hong Kong trade mission

Businesses from the South West and West Midlands looking to export to the Asia Pacific region are being encouraged to apply to take part in Hong Kong trade mission.

Business owners in the South West and West Midlands looking to export technologies abroad are being invited to take part in a trade mission to Hong Kong.

Tech West England Advocates, a not-for-profit tech community, is launching its second UK trade mission to the country as part of its ongoing development of a tech-trade corridor.

The Gateway to Asia Pacific mission will take place from October 21-25, 2024, and is now open to applications from tech founders and investors. Any founders from the region with export-ready technologies in any sector, including clean tech, health tech, fintech, AI and robotics, can apply.

As part of the trip, UK founders will visit a number of science parks with accelerators and incubators, meet counterpart Hong Kong entrepreneurs and investors, and participate in a reverse pitch investor event.
Richard Lowe, founder of Tech West England Advocates and mission organiser, said: “Hong Kong is an amazing place to do business and has such a vibrant tech ecosystem. Last year’s mission was a huge success, so we’re incredibly excited to return to the region in the autumn to further build on the relationships and networks that were established on our first trip. I would encourage any business that is considering expansion in Asia Pacific to get in touch.”

Russ Shaw, founder of Tech London Advocates and Global Tech Advocates, was involved in last year’s trade mission. He said: “The Hong Kong business environment is ripe with opportunities to build long-lasting relationships that will benefit both tech ecosystems, and I greatly look forward to attending again this year.”
The trade mission is being organised by training firm Hewlett Rand with KPMG, Eaton Club and Pitchflix as key partners for UK, Hong Kong and Global Tech Advocates. Other partners include InvestHK; Hong Kong Science and Technology Park; Cyberport; HKTDC; the Hong Kong British Chamber of Commerce; Department for Business and Trade; British Consulate; techUK; Institute of Directors; and Institute of Export.

Founders, investors and venture capitalists can apply by emailing contact@techwestenglandadvocates.co.uk.
