The Pokémon Company has confirmed that London will host the brand’s first permanent retail store outside Asia, targeting an opening in 2029 and ending the need for UK fans to travel abroad for an official year-round Pokémon destination.

Until now, dedicated Pokémon Center stores have existed only in Japan and other parts of Asia, meaning fans in Europe and beyond have had to rely on pop-up events or travel overseas to shop at an official brand location.

The Pokémon Company said the London store will carry exclusive merchandise and offer what it describes as “one-of-a-kind experiences” designed to appeal to fans of all ages, though it has not yet released a street address, store name, floor size or detailed product range.

London is being positioned as the first of several planned permanent international stores, with the company signaling further expansion beyond Asia without naming additional cities or timelines at this stage.

The announcement reflects the Pokémon franchise's continued push to deepen its retail presence in Western markets, building on decades of fan demand for a permanent, official shopping destination outside of limited-time pop-ups and conventions.

With the opening still three years away, further details on the store's exact location and offerings are expected to be announced closer to 2029, though the confirmation alone marks a significant moment for Pokémon's retail ambitions in Europe.
