A small aircraft has gone missing off the coast of Hemsby Gap, near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, after issuing a mayday call on Sunday afternoon. The incident has triggered a large-scale search-and-rescue operation involving multiple lifeboats and a coastguard helicopter.
The distress signal was received around 12:34 p.m., prompting immediate action by Humber Coastguard. Radar data showed the aircraft flying over the North Sea before vanishing approximately 2–3 nautical miles offshore. No wreckage or survivors have been found so far, and authorities have not yet confirmed how many individuals were on board.
Emergency services, including the RNLI, coastguard teams, and local police, remain on scene conducting a boxed search in the suspected crash zone. The situation is still developing, with updates expected as the search continues.
